Scarecrow Contest

Picture
Fun Event at 2012 Albert County Exhibition

 "Scarecrow Contest"

Scarecrow Entry Requirements

Participants must fill out an entry form at the Albert County Exhibition Hall on Tuesday, September 11, between 1pm-8pm when they bring their scarecrows to the fairgrounds.

There is no registration fee and is open to all ages.

Use your imagination! Your scarecrow must be made the old fashioned way, using at least some materials such as hay, straw, burlap, clothing, hats, farm produce (corn husks, vegetables, pumpkins etc.), but you can also add other materials in creating your scarecrow display...You may even wish to create a sign "giving your scarecrow a name". Don't use any materials or items that you value...as the scarecrows will be on display on the open fairgrounds...and the ACE won't be responsible if something goes missing.

All scarecrow entries may be subject to severe wind, and/or rain-therefore their construction should be durable and securely made. Scarecrows must be freestanding (or sitting) to be able to set up in a designated area on the fairgrounds.

Size Requirements

  • Minimum height of 4 ft; Maximum height of 7ft.
Delivery of Entries

  • Entrants are responsible for bringing their fully assembled freestanding scarecrow to the Albert County Exhibition between 1pm-8pm on Tuesday, September 11, 2012. Entrants will register by filling out the entry form, get their number & set up their scarecrow in designated area on the fairgrounds.
Judging the Scarecrows

The scarecrows will be judged. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.

Pick Up

  • All scarecrows must be picked up by their owners after 5pm on Sunday, September 16, 2012
Scarecrow contests are popular at many fairs across Canada and the United States, so you may wish to check out some websites....to give you some ideas to get you started....
